Making handmade jewellery Argyll Scotland

Our Story

After moving to Cove in Argyll & Bute on the West Coast of Scotland to deal with Maries’ Mental Health problems, we started taking daily walks on the many amazing beaches and Lochs that surround this beautiful area as a way of helping with Maries therapy and found that it worked in helping Marie to forget about her PTSD, Depression and Anxiety problems for a short while.

Marie started collecting the many different beautiful colours of sea glass, shells & pottery that had been naturally tumbled by the sea over years, decades and sometimes even centuries. As with many people with Mental Health problems, Marie suffered a big relapse and after some excellent treatment with the Drs and PCT team, Marie decided one day to try & make a necklace using some sea glass and we both quickly realised how talented Marie was as a jewellery maker. I also noticed from a personal view how at peace Marie was with herself when she was making jewellery and Hey Presto ARGYLLSEAGLASS was born, making handmade jewellery Argyll Scotland.

We are a lucky couple as we love each others company and spend 24hrs, 365 days a year together so working, living and caring for each other makes it easy for us. I (Mike) run all the social media, except for Instagram, websites, emails, advertising etc and Marie handcrafts all the jewellery after the laborious task of sorting sea glass (which can take hours) into the beautiful pieces you see on sale.

In September 2017 Marie was rushed into hospital & after a very worrying 3 weeks was finally discharged & diagnosed with Crohns disease, which has changed a few things, but we are slowly managing everything & Maries' health is slowly coming back :-)

UPDATE August 2019

A quick update on Marie, still having issues with medication, but is still powering on as the warrior she is :-)

Now we come to me :-( I've had a pain with my hip for couple of years and because I'm an idiot & a man(nearly always mutual) I never went to Drs, anyway after struggling to walk for the last couple of months, Marie literally dragged me and so it all began.

After blood tests & an X-ray, it turns out I have vascular necrosis which is stopping the blood to my bones in hip and pelvis, resulting in the bones dying, which is affecting my mobility quite bad lately. Thankfully as always our Drs & the SNHS are brilliant, within a week of results, 5 appts popped through door. I have always thought I am invincible & is a bit of a shock, but am in great hands & as my outlook is always positive as have a great wife, great home, great businesses and a great life.

Although this will slow me down physically for a while, my energy can be directed more on social media and helping people with showcasing their talents,

Over the coming weeks I will be adding a blog page (easier than keep adding to Story here) and also a recommended businesses page for free.

Thats all for now thank you Mike :-)

Marie can custom make any piece of sea glass jewellery using seaglass within reason.
